HOW WAS LA DENVER SALSA BORN?

One day back in 1996 David Parkos sat snacking on his homemade salsa. It was was the end of another long work day at a regular kind of job. Suddenly his face lit up, his eyes brightened, and he rushed to get a pad and pen to write down all that he was thinking.  This was a sheer brainstorm!  Just sell enough salsa to replace his income and he could break out of the 8-5 grind.

Just then his wife Patricia walked through the door.  He couldn't wait to tell her his plan.  she had her full attention on dinner and wouldn't listen until after they ate.  When he did get a chance to tell her she ended up on the floor rolling around and laughing like craze.  Her words were, "are you crazy, you're a gringo in Denver Colorado and you're going to make salsa?  Count me out - I'm not doing that - no way!"

Total discouragement set in and David never mentioned it again.  About two weeks later while Patricia was on a trip to the East coast she had a life changing experience while driving down a country road in New Jersey at about two in the morning.  Patricia saw very clearly in her minds eye the company name, the logo, and she even conceived the early business and marketing plan.

As soon as she reached her destination she phoned David and told him she had something very important to tell him.  She asked if he was sitting down so he wouldn't end up falling over.  Her words that morning were " I sure don't know how this happened, but I'm pregnant with the salsa seed, and we are going to have a baby.  And a baby they had!  Literally about 9 months later they had the company up and going.  About the same time David ended up jobless.  This left them plenty of time to tend to the company in the infancy stage.  Just like in the natural it has been a challenge learning how to care for, raise up, and push out into the world our offspring.  Rest assured this one is progressing well, able to stand alone and others will be added in the near future.

UPDATE: Because of a partnership gone badly we had to shut down in July 21, 2007. Just at a time when we had gotten into Sam's Clubs, about to launch into WalMart's and Whole Foods wanted to take us nationwide. Other stores such as Vitamin Cottage opening their stores up to all of our products. Since then we have been trying to put it back together. But with the economy it has proven to be very difficult. We have some options opening up to us this year 2010, but only time will tell.  WE WILL BE BACK!
